Western Maryland Railway 9th Crossing

This crossing of the North Branch Potomac River was originally built by the Western Maryland Railway as the The 9th crossing of the Western Maryland Railway, upstream from Hancock, has been replaced with a footbridge across the Potomac. The Carpendale Trail project, connects Maryland and West Virginia with a modern trail bridge. The trail includes the 1500-foot Knobley Tunnel and connects to the C&O Canal near Cumberland
