Photo of Metro bridge

A Metro rapid transit bridge runs adjacent to the Long Bridge. It began carrying passengers on the Yellow Line in 1982. It is one of three crossings made by the Washington area rapid rail transit system. The other crossings are tunnels; one from the Washington Channel to the Pentagon; the other, from the Georgetown area to Rosslyn, Virginia.
