CSX Magnolia Bridges
Potomac River Railroad Bridge

The Lower Magnolia and Upper Magnolia bridges carry the CSX rail lines across the Paw Paw Bends of the Potomac as part of the Cumberland Subdivision. The Cumberland Subdivision is a CSX rail line from Weverton, near Harpers Ferry, along the Potomac to Cumberland along the line of the B&O Railroad. The Magnolia "Cutoff," built in 1914, shortened the route along the river and incorporated a tunnel across one of the bends of the Potomac. The railroad crosses the Potomac six times in 10 miles and intersects the C&O Canal towpath. The Western Maryland section is being considered for a hiking/biking trail.
