Martins Creek Branch Railroad Bridge

Railroad Bridge

blank dot

A branch of the Bangor and Portland Railway was constructed in the 1880s from Nazareth Junction (Martins Creek Junctions) down to Martins Creek and across the Delaware River to Martins Creek Station, NJ where is connected with the Pennsylvania Railroad's Belvedere and Delaware or Bel. Del. Division. The Martins Creek Branch was completed on December 28, 1885. The railroad bridge across the Delaware was built in 1896 and is an excellent example of railroads being resourceful. The girders were built in 1896, but the trusses were built by Edge Moor at an unknown date. On April 14, 1896 both of those railroads were merged into the Bel. Del. Division.
