Connecticut River Bridge

blank dot

The 5th Street Bridge, also known as the Turners Falls Road Bridge, is a significant structure in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. It’s a truss bridge noted for its tall and impressive trusses, a result of its extremely long span length for a pony truss. Although the bridge is a late example of a riveted truss bridge, it is still significant for displaying rivets, which have not been used in construction for decades now except in restoration work. The bridge underwent a period of closure for repair work on the bridge deck and railing. The bridge plays a crucial role in facilitating transportation and commerce in the area.
