I-89 Bridge, Lebanon

Connecticut River Bridge

blank dot

The I-89 Bridge over the Connecticut River in Lebanon, New Hampshire, is a significant structure that facilitates transportation between New Hampshire and Vermont. In 2023, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) resumed construction operations on this bridge, which included work on a new median bridge. The construction required temporary daytime lane closures on the existing northbound and southbound bridges. Later in the year, the NHDOT shifted the existing I-89 southbound lanes in Vermont onto the newly completed median bridge. The bridge, which previously held southbound traffic, is being rehabilitated as part of a five-year project that combines the two original bridges with a median bridge to create auxiliary lanes and expand shoulders, thereby improving overall safety.
