The town of Canaan manages a river access that serves as an excellent starting point for multi-day trips along the river. Most common starting point for multi-day journeys, located just below the Canaan to West Stewartstown Bridge. Long term parking and an improved access on town owned land, conserved by the Vermont River Conservancy.

This site is part of the Connecticut River Paddlers Trail, which includes campsites, access points, and portage trails along the river.
