The I-91 Bridge over the Connecticut River in Chicopee, Massachusetts, is a significant structure that facilitates the flow of traffic between the two sides of the river. The bridge is part of the I-91 highway, which is a major north-south transportation corridor in the region. In 2023, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced the commencement of staged construction work for the rehabilitation of the bridge. The project, which includes steel repairs within the superstructure and existing girders using cover plates and Ultra High-Performance Concrete, bearing replacement, joint replacement, deck repairs, and new pavement, is expected to be completed in November 2024. The rehabilitation of the I-91 Bridge underscores its importance in maintaining connectivity and supporting economic activity in the region.
