River Highlands State Park is a public recreation area located on the west bank of the Connecticut River in the town of Cromwell. The park spans 177 acres and is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. The park is unique for its bluffs that overlook the Connecticut River, providing a vantage point 150 feet above the water. The park is a designated "walk-in" facility and pets are allowed, but must be on a leash. Activities include birding, river camping, and hiking. It is also one of four state parks where boaters can find primitive camping.

This site is part of the Connecticut River Paddlers Trail, which includes campsites, access points, and portage trails along the river.
