Middletown is a city located in Middlesex County, Connecticut, United States. It is situated along the Connecticut River, in the central part of the state, 16 miles south of Hartford. The Connecticut River is considered the single most important asset in Downtown Middletown. The riverfront represents the competitive edge the downtown possesses over most communities and holds the key to the long-term economic revitalization of the downtown. Middletown has an ambitious vision for waterfront redevelopment, which includes restaurants, entertainment venues, mixed-use housing, a four-season recreational park, and a pedestrian bridge that connects Main Street with the Connecticut River. This master plan for the riverfront redevelopment was revealed by the city in 2022.
