Connecticut River Island

blank dot

Goose Island is a unique location on the Connecticut River, particularly in Old Lyme. It spans seventy-five acres of uninhabited reeds, making it a haven for tree swallows. Each year, around 500,000 swallows come to nest here before migrating for the winter. This spectacle draws around 100 boats each night to watch the swallows. The island itself is very lovely and quiet, offering a serene environment for both the swallows and the visitors who come to witness this incredible natural phenomenon.
