Ragged Rock Creek Marsh Wildlife Area is a management area located near Old Saybrook Town Dock. It is one of the largest brackish tidal wetland systems in the Connecticut River estuary. The vegetation of the marsh is considered relatively intact, having suffered the least incursion of invasive species such as phragmites. This marsh allows for a diverse mix of plants and animals, some of which thrive here and may not be found elsewhere. The biological diversity and unique habitat value of the lower Connecticut River brackish tidal wetlands is well-known.
