Flooding Concerns--Flood warnings remain in effect for Hartford and Middlesex counties due to rising water levels in the Connecticut River. Some areas have measured over two feet above flood thresholds, leading to ferry closures and travel disruptions. More information.

Search for Missing Kayaker--Emergency crews are continuing to search for a missing kayaker whose boat flipped near the Holyoke Dam. The search for the 27-year old resident of Holyoke, MA, is focused on the area below the dam. Niklas Delisle was carried away by the current on May 19 after his kayak capsized. Delisle was in a two-passenger kayak with his girlfriend just south of the Vietnam Memorial Bridge that connects South Hadley to Holyoke. Neither of them were wearing flotation devices. Details

Federal Funding Freeze Affects River Restoration--The Connecticut River Conservancy’s (CRC) $11.5-million federal award from the USDA's Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP), implemented through the Natural Resources Conservation Service, has been stalled due to the federal funding freeze with no clear path for starting work that was slated to begin this spring.
