Virginia City

The county seat of Loudoun County, Leesburg is full of historic homes and buildings and coping with its growth as a major suburb of Washington, D.C. An attraction in the historic district is the Loudoun Museum, which has information on the history of Loudoun County and is the starting point of historic Leesburg walking tours.

A major event each summer is August Court Days, Leesburg's largest festival, which is based on events in colonial days, when the judicial court held monthly sessions to pass judgments. Street fairs, entertainment, and Revolutionary War reenactments draw more than 25,000 people to Leesburg. All activities take place in the four block historic district at the intersection of King and Market Streets in Leesburg.
