Nutten Hook Tidal Wetlands

Nutten Hook is a 296-acre forest and tidal wetlands area located in Stuyvesant, Columbia County, New York. It is part of the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve at Stockport Flats. The site features the remains of the largest ice house on the Hudson River, which is listed on the National and New York State Registers of Historic Places. Visitors can hike, observe wildlife, and also explore these sites through the NYS DEC's free educational canoe trips. There is a 0.4-mile loop trail near Stuyvesant that leads to Nutten Hook State Tidal Wetland.

The Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve at Stockport Flats is a five-mile, narrow mosaic of landforms dominated by freshwater tidal wetlands, mudflats, marshes and swamps. The site spans the middle 100 miles of the Hudson River estuary and is comprised of four sites: Stockport Flats, Tivoli Bays, Iona Island, and Piermont Marsh. The reserve covers freshwater and brackish tidal wetlands and uplands1. Visitors can hike, observe wildlife, and also explore these sites through the NYS DEC’s free educational canoe trips.
