St. Ignatius Church at Chapel Point

Chapel Point park includes the St. Ignatius Church site. The park offers a boat ramp, a small, unprotected beach, and access to the Port Tobacco River near its confluence with the Potomac. The park is open sunrise to sunset. It has a new paddle-in campsite available by permit only.

The church, which is surrounded by the park, is an early Jesuit manor that served the area around Port Tobacco.

St. Inigoes Church at Chapel Point is a site on the Southern Maryland Religious Freedom Byway, a route of historic sites dealing with the establishment of religious freedom in the U.S.
