Chapel Point State Park
Maryland State Park

The 828-acre park is located on the Port Tobacco River. It offers a boat ramp, a small, unprotected beach, and access to the Port Tobacco River approximately 4 miles above its confluence with the Potomac. The park is open sunrise to sunset. It has a new paddle-in campsite available by permit only. There is no fee for use of the boat ramp, which is best suited for canoes and kayaks.
In 2018, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources signed an agreement with Charles County, allowing the county to manage approximately 50 acres of Chapel Point State Park for public recreation. The area includes access roads and approximately 3,000 linear feet of shoreline, extending from the existing boat ramp and parking area north of Deep Point southward to Chapel Point. The 25-year lease agreement will enable the county to oversee the area along Port Tobacco River, while providing for enhanced collaboration with the department on the development of a master plan and implementation of various projects that will enhance recreational access, opportunity and services.
The site is included in the publication Water Trails in Charles County. Select this link to download a copy of the map.
