Fifteenmile Creek

Tributary

blank dot

This creek starts in Pennsylvania and flows 20 miles to reach the Potomac in Maryland's Green Ridge State Forest. Fifteenmile Creek cuts a rugged, intimate corridor through the heart of Green Ridge State Forest, carving its way down from the forested Allegheny Plateau to the Potomac River. The stream twists through steep shale ridges, hemlock?lined hollows, and pockets of mountain laurel that feel far removed from the rest of Maryland. Its clear, fast-moving water and rocky pools make it a favorite for hikers following the Green Ridge trails, anglers seeking wild trout, and paddlers who catch it during higher flows. As it approaches the Potomac, the creek passes beneath the C&O Canal towpath, creating one of the forest?s most scenic junctions.
