Bay Access Point

Photo of Lewes Beach

Lewes Beach, nestled along the Delaware Bay in the historic town of Lewes, offers a serene and family-friendly coastal escape with gentle waves, soft sand, and stunning sunsets. Stretching from Roosevelt Inlet to Cape Shores, the beach is divided into several public access points—like Savannah Beach and Johnnie Walker Beach—each equipped with seasonal lifeguards, bathhouses, Mobi-Mats, and metered parking. Its calm waters make it ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking, while the nearby fishing pier and bike trails invite exploration beyond the shoreline. Lewes Beach is also known for its pet-friendly policies outside peak hours and its proximity to the Cape May–Lewes Ferry and downtown Lewes, where charming shops and restaurants complete the experience.

Kayak access is not permitted directly from Lewes Beach itself. According to the City of Lewes beach regulations, launching boats, paddleboards, kayaks, kiteboards, and windsurfing equipment is prohibited from the beach shoreline.
