Excellent walk on a gravel path. There are bicycles on the path too which means you need to be aware of sharing the space but it’s big enough for everyone. Great to see wildlife despite all the human activity- turtles, ducks, heron…there are also some smaller 1-person foot paths that go closer to the river and a bridge to cross making it a nice little excursion. Beautifully set along the Potomac River. There are walking trails and comfortable paddling waters within a protected area.

Great place to play hockey and ice skate when the Canal freezes. You need a few days of sub-freezing temps to safely get on the ice. Bring your skates, a stick, and a broom to “refresh” the ice! (Note: this photo is from January 2018).

Love it here, really is relaxing. The blast from the past is refreshing as well. I've never rented the lock house, but it seems nice too.
We generally walk down to the river from here. There's a slalom course for kayaking right there too.
