This bridge is an example of failed and outdated infrastructure in the DMV area caused by poor government planning and politics. No new bridges are built because of political reasons with farm land and real estate along Potomac river.

Traffic at all times of the day. Why close lanes at 10 pm and not later into the night? This bridge is the devil’s spawn. Construction has been going on and will go on for what seems like forever. Makes me reconsider any trip going between VA and MD.

My sister, niece, nephew and I have passed thru this bridge in both directions and that the bridge crosses the Potomac River. It is one of the highways that loops around the Washington D.C. area. Also, that there is a lot of traffic during the rush hour.

What goes on, on this bridge is some type of crazy phenomenon. Coming home from work in rush hour, the signs on 495 will indicate an accident or lane closure or construction, that is causing a massive slowdown. GPS says the same. However 9/10 its this bridge and there is no accident, and no lane closure. It's like people lose their minds driving over it, slow down to a crawl, and once you get over it, immediately the traffic congestion decreases. I dont know what the explanation is but its a nightmare

Needed to get widened 25 years ago. Been a bottleneck for traffic since 2000. Nobody at DOT gives 2 you know whats.
