One of my favorite kayak launching spot. The ramp is wide enough to fit at least two boats or several kayaks to launch at the same time. This part of Potomac River is wide and calm because of a dam downstream. The water in most seasons is not deep, probably to knee or thigh level. I like to watch sunrise or sunset on the River from here. I give 4 stars rather than 5 stars, because it’s usually very crowded and most time the ramp is pretty muddy. But still I recommend this place to my friends.

Very clean and nicely maintained. Easy access to river. Very quite and peaceful if you go early in the morning.

There is a friendly young raccoon by the creek this season , it will come up to you if you are fishing and touch/steal your bags and mess with your poles. 1 leg it's hurts. There are alot of evil people who want their dogs dead or to hurt others i mean! Alot of people are walking their dogs without leash. 1 got away and bit somebody a few weeks ago, so i wouldn't be surprised if a human or their pet hurt the friendly/nosey raccoon. It will eat food if you throw it at it or leave it unattended, i know it's sad. It's young and has too much trust on humans... when it got dark my friend was packing, picking stuff off the floor when he jumped because the racoon was 3ft away from his face, looking for bluegill and hotdogs to eat...

Watch the water level. For the most part it's great to paddle upstream and back. Rain storms will hinder that.
