I really enjoyed this trip. This was more of a nature trail kayaking trip. It was supposed to be along the canal but we went on the Potomac just a bit. Some wildlife present and even 🌈 trout swam right by us. The water was pretty clear and no more than 3 feet deep where we were. If you go, be sure to take bug spray for when you're preparing to go on the water. Once you're on the water it's cool. There were dragon flies landing on my legs. I suppose they were investigating. All in all, it was a great experience. We met strangers and became friends with them if only for that short time.

Plenty of parking. Additional parking nearby. Early in season and the area needs some work to get it ready, or perhaps it is just the major rains we have had lately.

Fun to go here and travel the towpath as well.

The ramp is silted in and eroded on one side. As of the 1st of February 2024 muddy Branch Creek is open to the Potomac at normal water levels

The heavy rains had just passed. The river was inaccessible through/underneath the C/O canal. But the park was open and ready for C/O canal/towpath visitors.

No fee boat access however, when water levels are low access is impossible.
