5 Stars - The Clear Winner After 20 Years of Potomac River Boating
After 20 years boating the Potomac and just completing my first full season at Occoquan Harbour Marina, I can confidently say this is the best marina experience in Northern Virginia.
Unlike other Occoquan marinas that require extremely long no-wake zones, this location is perfectly positioned - easy in/out access while still protected from Potomac weather. The proximity to DC, Occoquan town, Colonial Beach, and the Chesapeake makes it ideal for both day trips and weekend adventures.
What truly sets this marina apart:
- The only travel lift (25-ton) that I know of on the Occoquan - no more hauling my boat elsewhere for service
- 9-foot depth at low tide
- Full-service team led by Michael
- exceptional pricing, quality, and turnaround time.
- My boat looks brand new after their detailing
- Floating docks with on-site gas/diesel
- Top-notch facilities kept immaculate
The Harbour Grille - amazing food and live music right on-site, perfect after a day on the water
Owner Dick Lynn and manager Karla have created something special here - it genuinely feels like family, not just another marina. The facilities are pristine with security cameras and locking gates. The bathhouse is spotless. The service team goes above and beyond.
After two decades of boating experience, I know the difference between good and exceptional. This is exceptional. Highly recommend to any serious boater looking for a true home port.

This is a wonderful marina with friendly and helpful staff. I leased a large slip for over 4 years and they always looked after my boat, called if they thought there were potential issues. Love the convenience store on site for ice, snacks and last minute boating stuff. They offer washing and waxing, plus full cleaning services for your boat. All the mechanical and maintenance services we had done on our boat were done quickly and proficiency. Also they have a great boating community on the docks. I can't say enough good things about this Marina. I would highly recommend it.

This marina under the Management of Karla Justice has a requirement to use their on staff mechanics. Abiding by their rules I requested a bolt extraction my starboard engine by a machinist. Occoquan apparently did not employ a mechanic with machinist skills, so they sent what they had. Their staff broke the bolt off, then took a grinder to it, grinding through my heat exchanger and the drilled a crooked hole into my cooling tank.
The mechanic called me and said “ you have three threads is that enough? I couldn’t get the whole bolt out.”
Making things worse, Karla lease my slip out from under me and I had to tow my boat to a different Marina. I had no problems at Occoquan Marina before that, I knew all my neighbors and we looked out for each other.
Do not trust Karla or her staff mechanics!!
