The Monocacy River is truly a beautiful & scenic river flowing mostly through wooded areas, and farm lands. In spirit of it’s many access points, and proximity to the city of Frederick. You could spend most of or all day on the river without seeing other people, while at other times you’ll find the complete opposite. The vast majority of the river fishes very well throughout the warm months of the year.

Not the easiest take out and put in for kayak, but the river is lovely. Paddled upstream to just above the bridge, and saw bald eagle sitting in treetop. Much quicker trip back down! Had to portage twice on the way up. Current got the better of us.
