I went for a hike but my body asked for a jog. Place is beautiful, lots of runners and cyclists. Feels like a nature oasis right in the city. Beware of humidity if you’re not used to it.

I rode the trail from Georgetown to Chevy Chase and back, though the trail itself goes 5 miles further up if you want to go all the way. A good one if you, like me, haven't biked in a while but feel fit enough for a moderate challenge.

Except the stretches that go through a little bit of the town, the trail has a beautiful dense canopy which is great on sunny days. You'll be riding either fairly close to the Potomac or through parks. I didn't stop a lot to get good sightings but did hear quite a lot of birds in some spots.

There are no provisions for a few miles in between so do carry water, and snacks if you need some. You can get good coffee and bagels once you reach Chevy Chase. It is a free trail, no fees necessary.

Beautiful paved trail with a good mix of sunlight and shade. The path overall is flat/even (excepting the River Road bridge), but it's technically very slightly uphill in some areas heading north. There are usually at least a couple other people within sight on the trail, so it feels quite safe. An excellent way to get between Georgetown and downtown Bethesda on foot or bicycle.

Other points of interest along the way include: the Bethesda Outdoor Pool, Washington Episcopal School, Little Falls Library, Little Falls Stream Valley Park, Fletcher's Cove, and Georgetown Waterfront.

Capitol Bikeshare locations in: downtown Bethesda, River Road, Palisades (a few blocks from trail), and Georgetown.
