My aunts son took three of us here just as the sun was setting. Very beautiful sun set over the water with interesting historical buildings to see. Seeing this Fort in the condition it’s in can amaze you and have you think to what could have happened there. The park is very large&clean a nice place to spend some quiet time in the evening.

Super cool to see if you’re in to history. Easy to get to a a free of change. Cute little national park gift shop. Look super eerie- especially in the rain - but was a really neat to see a part of history!

This place is wonderful! The landscape is beautiful and majestic. The information center is very charming. The volunteers are helpful and knowledgeable. The fortress fills with culture and history. I was very lucky to be there in the first Sunday of the month. Because they offer live artillery demonstrations. It can be very educational. The place closes at 4pm. I’d think this place would have a great view of sunset during the winter when sun sets early.

This is a great fort that has a lot of historical significance.
There are areas and parts of the Fort and park that are varying levels of decay and abandonment. I hope that those areas can be worked on in the future to help preserve both history and this wonderful green space!

The gates is closed due to the government shutdown, however, you are able to walk in.
The park was still clean despite the shutdown! None of the restrooms are open, so just be aware of that if you visit. Great spot to walk the dogs for a little bit!
Please keep your dog on a leash as this park does REQUIRE leashes.
