Excellent Views and Trail Design
A great walk from National Harbor! Even on a 47° day, the views were stunning. The trail is thoughtfully designed, and the Maryland side has lots of interesting plaques to read.
Heads Up: The traffic noise on the Maryland side is significant (a constant whine/buzz). Wear noise-canceling gear. The sound wall on the Virginia side is a game-changer—it's noticeably quiet and peaceful over there!

First time on the bridge and it was a great workout! I thought it would be scary because it’s so close to the highway but it was great! Nice level of elevation clear walkway. If you want fresh air and to skip the gym this was great went the whole way. I walked it took 1 hour to from the ranger outlets to the end in Virginia it’s about 3 miles long!

It’s absolutely surreal at the top of the bridge! The Revolutionary War infographics along the way are a quick but meaningful read, especially with America250 approaching. Overall, this bike ride is STUNNINGLY beautiful—you’ll see it all: the ferry, drawbridge, planes, helicopters, and boats crossing the Potomac. I highly recommend this path!

There aren't enough easy ways to cross between Maryland and Virginia in the Washington area, but the Woodrow Wilson Bridge does a pretty good job of it. Very wide with SIX lanes across in each direction. Clear and smooth. Lots of signage and of course, warnings about it being a drawbridge. Watching it open would have to be very cool to see, but I'm sure that it totally screws up the traffic when it happens.
Sadly, I was driving and wasn't able to enjoy any of the view today.

This is a really lovely bridge to get your exercise on while soaking in the beautiful scenery. Be it for biking, walking and running. It’s a 6 mile walk to and fro from Virginia to the Maryland side and vice versa. I really enjoyed riding on the bridge renting the capital bikeshare bicycle with a friend. It was so much fun! I highly recommend to all tourists and locals as well.
