The museum staff were very nice. There was a small craft advisory the weekend I visited, so I didn't get to the island but was still worth the visit.

Great little museum. Definitely take the water taxi to the island. It's worth $7 and a short hike to the lighthouse and the commemorative cross.

Driving from Annapolis, going on the boat to the island was the main event and there were no boats available today which was pretty disappointing. Museum itself was neat to see and learn of the history of the island ($3 admission for six and up). There was also a schoolhouse to visit est. 1820 (moved to location). A great experience for homeschooling families but the inconsistent availability of the boat trip to island can be frustrating.

Definitely worth it to come check out. I recommend paying the $7 for the additional boat ride and getting able to walk across the island. I can't believe it was once 400+ acres. When you get off the boat head left and walk around the island (15min walk) and see the big cross and light house. There are many picturesque spots as well.
The museum is also good and they have a video that explains a lot. Also staff was very friendly as well.

Nice place off the beaten path for fishing. My only complaint was that I didn't get there early enough and there were a few boats stirring up the waters during my time there!
