Beautiful park with lots of historical buildings and a great monument to war correspondents. This was my rest break on my first section hike of the AT it had a water source and bathrooms so an extra bonus.

Beautiful hike point on AT. Bathroom access and nice picnic area. One of my favorite support point as a JFK 50miler runner and as a medical volunteer.

So pretty. Trails are well kept. A bit rocky on our particular trail but a treasure trove of fungus greeted us along our path. Look forward to visiting this magical spot again 🪷

This is a well-maintained park with lots of history and access to the Appalachian Trail. If you are not interested in history, or the Appalachian Trail, this is probably not the park for you. There are bathrooms and picnic areas available. The arch is cool.

We went on a two-day hike on the West Virginia/Maryland Appalachian Trail. The first day's hike ended at Gathland State Park. As a 30-year US Navy veteran, I found it particularly touching, especially since it was the day before my 66th birthday.
