We visited on October 2025 and hike the trail between the two park sections. Trail is well marked and maintained . The visitors center had displays and information on Palmer Hayden. Restrooms are available In each park section. Plenty of parking,

Very well maintained and full of picnic facilities like grill, grassy ground clean washrooms and huge size of Wooden shelters. Beautiful plark for family picnics. We had very leisure and quality time.

WSP is one of the newer parks in the Virginia system so its still being developed but the facilities are brand new and clean. There is a car top boat ramp with Kayak launch on Aquia creek and it looks like there is a boat ramp in construction on the Potomac.

The park is split into two parts right down the street from each other. I didn't have my kayak with me this but definitely will be back on next visit. Beautiful park.

State park with a couple large picnic pavilions. Behind the pavilions is a path through the woods that parallels the water. There is a small dock and an area with canoes (i assume they are rentals). Along the path are a few spots where you could get to the shoreline. But there is no actual beach here. We saw most people on the shore were fishing. Parking was $10. Huge visitors center with a few items on display along with magnets and other items available for purchase. We chatted briefly with a Ranger (or someone sitting behind the desk at the visitors center) and she was very nice and helpful. I noticed a freezer with ice cream for sale as well.
