Absolutely beautiful park. Very clean road trails and easy to walk/bike. 10/10 would recommend. Saw a lot of people kayaking/fishing here as well. There is a large body of water.

Another area along the Potomac River to enter the C&O Canal and view the river. Great to walk, hike, bike, fish, kayak and bird watch.

The parking lot is large and there are several porta-potties on site. During summer months, can become crowded, but was virtually empty today. Several areas along Seneca Creek to enter your boats and kayaks and go out onto the river through the aquaduct.

Great views of the Potomac River and the Virginia shoreline across the way. After passing up several steep stairs, it allows you to walk over the aquaduct west (upstream) towards Hughes Hollow, or east (downstream) towards Violette's Lock. As you head west, there is a large water area on your right which is great for bird watching.

Riley's Lockhouse is well maintained and a sight to see. Several stories of brick that is awesome to see. Heading west you can take the path on the right (behind the water area) and find the Seneca Mill and Quarry Ruins.

Overall a great place to jump onto the C&O Canal. Enjoy!

On our way to nearby Rocklands Farm Winery, we met another family at Riley's Lock for the kids to get more energy out. There's a parking lot near the historic lock and aqueduct. Along the C&O Trail, there's green space near the Potomac River to play (or camp).

A great place for views of the Potomac and the sunset. The aqueduct made of red Seneca sandstone is a nice historic structure. I also suggest walking the 3/4 mile down the towpath to Violette’s Lock (Lock 23) to get a different perspective and nice views of the forest and river along the way.

Great location to start a day of walking, hiking, kayaking or biking. The C&O Canal path (which runs approximately 100 miles from Washington, DC to Cumberland) runs right along the Potomac River, with Virginia on the other side. The path is very good and well maintained.

Not too crowded at this location along the canal so a pleasant experience. Plenty of parking, all free, that is right next to the path. Port-a-john os there, too. Recently installed kayak launch platform.
