Shenandoah National Park is one of the most accessible national parks I’ve visited. You can drive through the park along the scenic Skyline Drive, making it easy to enjoy the breathtaking mountain views without long hikes. There are numerous overlooks with convenient parking, so you can stop and take in the scenery whenever you like.

I was also lucky to spot several deer during our visit. Be sure to drive carefully, as deer can suddenly cross the road at any time. The park entrance fee is $30 per vehicle, which is well worth it for the stunning views and peaceful nature. A perfect destination for a relaxing road trip and outdoor adventure in Virginia.

Shenandoah National Park was the perfect destination for a weekend getaway with friends and family. I’m incredibly grateful for the memories we created together. From exploring the underground wonders of Luray Caverns to standing atop the mountain overlooks for a little “scream therapy,” every moment reminded me how restorative nature can be.

We also enjoyed some fantastic local cuisine that was just as rewarding to the palate as the scenery was to the eyes. The breathtaking mountain vistas, peaceful hiking trails, and fresh air made it easy to disconnect from everyday life and reconnect with what truly matters.

Whether you’re looking for adventure, stunning landscapes, wildlife, photography, or simply a peaceful walk with your furry companion, Shenandoah offers something for everyone. I highly recommend adding it to your travel list—it’s an experience you’ll remember long after the weekend ends.

One of the most breathtaking drives I’ve ever experienced! The scenery is absolutely spectacular from start to finish, with countless overlooks that make you want to stop every few minutes. I spent 36 hours in the area, staying overnight in Front Royal, but I honestly wish I had stayed somewhere along Skyline Drive itself to soak in even more of its beauty. It is a must-visit for anyone who loves nature and scenic drives. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!

The food at the lodge was really good. The Blackberry Lemonade (adult beverage) was amazing! The wait staff was nice but slow. The hikes and views are awesome. The room we stayed in was nice. Nothing fancy but they accommodated us with a roll away bed and everyone slept comfortably.

Skyline Drive is gorgeous. Lots of places to pull over and enjoy the scenery. 3 visitor centers to get information and see exhibits. 4 campgrounds, though none have RV hookups, a lot of sites are level.
