The blacksmith shop was closed, I'm guessing when they open up the other areas with staff it is probably nice for kids, we basically just saw the fort. Inexpensive and quick stop if your just looking to have a stop on the way to DC.

Absolutely gorgeous and well maintained park. I was looking forward to checking out the Civilian Conservation Corps museum, but it was closed when we were there.

Very nice park! Make sure you go into the museum in the visitors center too. There’s also a nature trail by the beaver pond. I only would suggest more signage on the area to provide more information.

A very amazing place. The history here is palpable just walking around the fort, even before you hear any of the stories.
The staff we encountered were so helpful and courteous. First, the visitor's center staff member walked us through the map, and also gave a good explanation of other pertinent information about the park. Then, staff we encountered at the fort were very personable and willingly shared interesting historical details about the site (even though tours weren't being given on that day).
The displays at the visitor center are very well done. We were pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Looking forward to going back and seeing and exploring more. Highly recommend!

Interesting fort and beautifully kept grounds. Park Ranger was very knowledgeable about the local history. Small museum with some interesting displays in the visitor's center. Visitor's center is always open even if the buildings inside the fort are not. Fort gate was open for our visit but buildings were closed.
