Turkey Run Park is a hidden gem for anyone who loves being outdoors in the DC/Maryland area. It’s peaceful, green, and has a great mix of wooded trails and river views that make it feel like a real escape without going far. I love coming here when I want fresh air, a quieter hike, and a place that’s not as crowded as some of the bigger parks.

The trails are well maintained and easy to follow, with lots of shade perfect on warmer days. There are also great spots along the Potomac to stop, relax, and enjoy the scenery. If you’re looking for a calm, beautiful place for hiking, walking, or just spending time in nature, Turkey Run Park is absolutely worth a visit.

What a great hike!! Challenging and you can go explore off path and make it a 10mile hike all the way around. Definitely worth going.

I can't believe I've never been to this park before. The loop was more challenging than expected with fallen trees and slippery rocks but the view of the small water falls is great. Also great views of the river. Plan to revisit during leaf peeping season

It’s nice to walk in the park by Potomac River although some area was blocked by fallen trees.

The parking lot was not full when we went last Saturday, 11/15/2025.

There are some picnic tables in the park, not far away from the parking lot.

Beautiful trails thru the woods and down to the Potomac River. At least one water crossing to get to the Potomac Heritage Trail, so be sure to wear good shoes! Super friendly and helpful staff at the Park Headquarters. Restrooms in a small separate building (didn't use, but do seem to be serviced regularly).
