Fun beach for fossil hunting. You need to get there at low tide, or else there won’t be a beach. You really only have a few hours of useable beach. So make sure you plan accordingly!

I got there early, low tide was at 8, I got there around 7:30. The parking lot was empty.
I missed the lot initially because my gps wanted to take me past it. It’s on the left side of the road at the bottom of one of the big hills. I stayed for 2 or 3 hours, and there were still parking spaces available when I left (it was a weekday).

I found about 200 shark teeth, and a few other fossils as well. Nothing was huge, but it’s still fun finding them. The beach is really long, so there’s plenty of area to spread out and search.

The trail is a short walk from the car to the beach, but it is a little steep to get to the beach from the trail, unless there’s another part of the trail I didn’t see. So if you’ve got mobility difficulties, it might be hard to get there.

The woods around the beach are beautiful, and there are lots of cute mushrooms to look at too.

There are signs out right now about sewage in the water, so swimming is probably not a great option at the moment.

All in all, a great little hidden gem in southern Maryland. And it’s free!

As others have mentioned it is a very narrow beach area. There is a lot of driftwood and small pebbles we did find shark teeth and the 5 year old boys waded in the water. Be aware as the tick population is there . Just walking down to the beach 2 ticks were crawling on hubby. Be careful and have fun! Wear sunscreen too

A nice State Park at the lower course of Potomac River. Don't expect beaches. The riverside is very small. This place seem to be known for finds of shark teeth. We didn't find any of them but many families were searching the shallow water...
The place is okay. It will not become our famous sunday excursion. But we were able to catch some nice shots with our cam...

Incredible! Quiet beach on a weekday, easy access, fun to find fossils. Highly recommended!

This place was so neat! It was our first time hunting for shark teeth and we were thrilled to be able to find some (with the help of a local woman we met on the beach!) We just had to look closely- they were coming in and out with the shallow part of the water. Worth the drive and the short hike in.
