Grandparents lived in the Seneca hotel as caretakers beside the lock in the late 1960s- early 70s and me and my sister would visit all the time. I love this place although after Hurricane Agnes in the 70s most everything was destroyed.

Aqueduct #1. Awesome Stonework. Different stone from the other Aquaducts and Lift Locks. Unfortunately time has taken its toll. Thanks for installing a walkway to connect the C&O Canal Towpath. There is also access by car and a boat launch here... Great Place to take a walk or ride a Bicycle...

It's a absolutely, very specatular little area right on the Potomac river. I came here on a retreat with Calleva and it's a very scenic and aesthetically pleasing place. You can go fishing, a trail goes right above the bridge, and you can land boats and kayaks and such. 10/10
