This is a nice trailhead in this section of the C & O Canal. There is an old lock house here at Lock 70, and a nice watered section of the canal. We were there in the spring, and the turtles were abundant as well as the birds. The trail surface is nicely compacted stone dust around the section. This is a spot we'll be back to.

It’s so nice and peaceful here to stop for a recharge while biking on the towpath. You could see people relaxing fishing and taking a walk nearby

Attended the Fishing Rodeo. Kids had a blast. Lots of large catfish.

An obvious water level difference right here, can be calculated that the lock panel is under a huge stress. That also proves how strong the lock is, even it was built hundreds of years ago.

Nice quiet place to get out and enjoy the scenery. When we were there, we had the place to ourselves, and it was very quiet and peaceful which was very enjoyable.
