If you enjoy Williamsburg then you should come to Saint Mary's City. It is not the same scale but just as important as it is the colonial city before there was even the thought of revolution. These links that tie the early colonies to what we understand of the colonies at the start of the revolution are important.

The first capital of Maryland that could have been lost to the fog of time but due to the wonderful efforts of archeological workers, enthusiastic interpreters and volunteers the early colony is brought alive. You can learn about the indigenous people that gave them skills to make it in the new world. Step aboard a duplicate of the trading vessel that sailed in colonial waters. Walk into shops and the church that was part of the lives of persons who were part of America’s beginning.

It's interesting. A nice diversion located in southern Maryland. It's basically a smaller, less expensive version of Colonial Williamsburg.

I absolutely loved walking through this place. It is such a cool way to see history come to life with the reconstructed buildings and all the interesting exhibits. You can tell a lot of effort went into making everything feel authentic, and the staff is super knowledgeable if you have questions. It is a fantastic spot to spend a day learning something new while enjoying the beautiful outdoor space.

This place was pretty cool. Lots of history and the landscape, buildings, and the historical actors added up to a nice experience.

The boat tour was amazing too. As a sailor myself, I found the boat to be interesting and informative about the history of the colonization of our country and the start of Southern Maryland.
