Beautiful boat entry to the Potomac River. Was a former ferry location (hence, the name), now a picturesque entry point onto the C&O towpath. Small parking lot, ample spots on a late April Sunday afternoon but have heard it can get backed up in certain periods with so many boats, canoes, and kayaks getting launched from this point

This is a really good place for paddle boarding & kayaking. The river is wide with a mild current. During normal water level you can almost walk across the river. There are restroom facilities on site. The boat makes it easy to unload and load your water crafts. The only reason I gave a 4 star is because the shore has a lot of mud requiring cleanup at home but it is well worth it. We went with 3 paddle boards & 2 kayaks. My 6 YO & 2 YO grandsons had a ball.

Cool place to watch the river flow by!

A great place to fish, hike, or bike on the C&O towpath. You can drive right to the ferry landing, by the old lockeeper's house. There's also a bathroom at the landing. Just be forewarned that the landing will often flood after a heavy rain, which may limit or prevent parking.

Well maintained trails for walking, running, biking or horseback riding. Great for families, dogs, etc.
