I can’t remember when I’ve had a more disappointing dining experience. We’ve been on the fence about trying the Irish Inn at Glen Echo for a while now, reviews seem 50/50. Now we understand why.
Upon entering the restaurant we had to flag someone in an apron down to help us get seated. Our waiter was clearly tired, yawning, didn’t ask if we had eaten there before, or if we had any questions about the menu. Brought our appetizers out with no cutlery or napkins, we started eating so things didn’t get cold. I caught the waiters eye and held up my greasy fingers! The leek and potato soup was very good, buttery, served piping hot. The Mediterranean platter was probably the best thing we ate…at the IRISH restaurant!
The corned beef and cabbage was so bland. Everything literally just boiled, no salt, no pickling spices…nothing. Applied two types of mustard and salt and pepper to give the dish the hint of any flavor. The Shepherds pie was also tasteless, added A1 steak sauce to help bring some level of flavor to the dish. We love Irish food and try it almost every where we travel to. Some of the best has been at Galloway Bay restaurant in Annapolis!
This place seems to cater to lots of regulars who have a nostalgic love for the place rather than the quality or authenticity of the food.

We’ve passed by 100 times and decided to finally try it.
It’s a pretty large group (kids and adults) and we were truthfully a bit loud (no alcohol).

The manager came over and angrily told us to be quiet.
What kind of an Irish pub would it be without a rowdy crowd! 😆

Food was ok, but that manager annoyed us.

We went here to have an early dinner (5pm) as a group of 5 including our twin 10 year olds. This location is a little awkward to find, but we trusted our GPS and found it without any incident. The parking is a free lot. Note the building is old and the parking is sloped. If you go on an icy day, it may be difficult for an elderly person. There was parking available when we arrived, but when we left it was pretty full. Its got the feel of a traditional Irish pub, old wood in a warm space on this fall evening. We ended up sitting in the pub in a corner booth vs a table in the main restaurant and really enjoyed the atmosphere. They have children's menus so it should be enjoyable for all ages. We had a wide array of dishes. I had the prime rib (Saturday special), my wife had a chicken pot pie, my daughter had roasted salmon, and my son had chicken tenders. My prime rib was fantastic. I was debating between it and Shepard pie, and our server said it's not really a competition and to get the prime rib. I certainly would go back, and would recommend checking it out if you happen to be near it.

Looks very much like an Irish pub with it's monotonous Irish music. The food is very good though. The burger was excellent and the fries perfect. The service was fine and the price fair. The place is half a restaurant and half pub. There is also an outdoor extension of the pub which must be delightful in the good weather. Will definitely go back

The Irish Inn is an amazing spot! It’s a perfect place to stop at after some hiking at C&O, Turkey Run Trail or Scott’s Run Nature Preserve. I’ve only come twice now with my dogs, but will continue doing so. Both people I believe are managers are so friendly - the kind woman brought water bowls for each of my pups and the sweet gentlemen brought a piece of bacon for them both. Eliezer has been our server both times and he is extremely kind as well! The other customers are very friendly. 10/10 would recommend and will continue to come back after hiking since it’s only ~30 minutes back to DC.
