The staff at the check-in office were very friendly.
The roads to access the park are narrow, and the roads inside the park range from new asphalt to broken asphalt and rutted gravel. Our space was a pull-through style, but it was not long enough for a 30-foot motorhome towing a Jeep. The space was generous in width but not nearly level front to rear.
The showers did not produce hot water but we're mostly clean. The advertised WiFi was nonexistent in our location, and we had no cellular coverage from Verizon.
Large Park with many seasonal and full-time residents.
For me, it would have to improve WiFi greatly, repair hot water in restrooms, and spend some time leveling pads before I would even consider a return.

Let’s start with I NEVER leave bad reviews…. But If I could leave negative stars I would. 😂 we booked for the month. We travel with my husband for work. Husband gets there and there is no cell service. WiFi is slim to none. Pictures DO NOT accurately reflect the sites. We made the choice to find other accommodations better suited for us. We were told when he left that we would get full refund minus a $50 cancellation fee. We were refunded less than that. When my husband called to verify, he was greeted with nothing but attitude. Berated and told they were found us a favor by letting us stay! Also beware if you have children, he was told they don’t usually have kids there bc they “cause incidents”. So disappointed in the way my husband and our family was treated. Proceed with caution when looking to book here.

While bike packing the GAP to C&O it was tricky locating a campground in the area. I was glad to find this location that had real restrooms & warm showers. The hills to the campground with all my gear wasn't easy. The soil was very rocky to put a few stakes in. I didn't know exactly where my site was when booking over the phone (tent with electric to charge all my devices) & once I discovered it was in the most further section away from the office I was bothered. Fortunately the ladies in the office heard my concerns & relocated me near the bathhouse without an additional charge. It instantly made me feel safer as a solo female rider. Thank you!! I appreciate the picnic table & ability to charge my expensive gear at my site.
The only weird part was how empty the campground was but I arrived on a Monday in September.

We're new to camping, but Happy Hills was a good choice for our first time out. We were there mid-week in April, so there were not a lot of other people. We enjoyed the quiet solitude. The staff here was super nice and helpful.
We went to dinner two nights at a nice little restaurant a few miles now the road( Potomac River Grill). The food was great!!
We chose this campground because of it's close proximity to the Western Maryland Rail Trail. Our bike ride on the Rail Trail was just what we hoped for.
I would definitely recommend this campground and plan to go back again.

We love Happy Hills and the family that owns/runs it. We go back many times every year. I highly recommend.
