Beautiful campground with thoughtfully planned campsites spaced far enough apart to provide privacy while still giving a sense of community. It never feels overcrowded, even when there are plenty of campers around.
The lakeside sites are especially stunning, offering peaceful views and a relaxing atmosphere. The grill areas are clean and very well maintained. One of the best features is the private lake access exclusively for campers as it's a gated entrance, making it feel safe and less crowded.
The campground also has a wonderful nature center where kids can learn about and explore local animals, along with a cozy reading area for children. Kayaks and canoes are available for rent, making it easy to enjoy time on the water.
Overall, it's a fantastic destination for families and nature lovers. Highly recommended!

Amazing campground! Electric hook up sites, small cabins available, plenty of shade, beach access with a convenient shop for quick necessities, and beautiful views. Oh and the bathrooms are actually clean! Great place for large family events. Love that you rent paddle boards and canoes right from the beach!

It's been years since I have been here. (Many great memories with the boy scouts here.) It was a different and much enjoyed experience this visit. The campsites are pleasant and well covered by beautiful mother nature. There are nice paths and trails to walk. Do be aware of the immense amount of poison ivy. It is as close to two feet from some campsites. A lot of the campsites aren't kept up with. Many of them lack needed gravel and maintenance. The waterfront beach area is so great. They have kayaks, canoes and SUP boards for rent. There is nice, clean, and graded sand. The views are spectacular! Especially if you are a photographer. The playground and playground area is ideal. There is nice shade as well from the trees. There are a few cool pavilions for use. You do have to reserve those. The store is extremely convenient. There's always that one item that you forget. Worry no more that store is clutch! - update - DON'T GIVE ANY STAFF ANYTHING EVER. I have given a water bottle to three staff here and a few snacks to staff. One of the park rangers decided to report me to the police. If you were so uncomfortable by it. Why did you thank me multiple times? Why did you wait weeks to do this to me? You caused me damage. The other staff were grateful. I don't plan to return here at all after that unnecessary nonsense.

Rocky Gap was great. We spent the first weekend of the season in one of the dog friendly cabins, and as you can see our dog approves. We didn't get around to checking out the amenities, but the hiking is nice and the bathhouse was very clean.

Cons:
* The sound of the nearby highway traffic is loud especially at night.
* No hot water in the bathhouse - Check before you go.
* Camp store and nature center are completely closed (off season), though ice and firewood are available at the office.
* Noise from the pavilions near the casino echos across the lake, it's loud.

Pros:
* Beautiful lake for kayaking, it was quiet and peaceful on a Sunday
* Nice campsites - spread out
* Friendly park staff

If you're looking for a quiet getaway in nature this is probably not the park you're looking for. It was a three hour drive and I'm not sure it's worth it. However, if you live nearby, this is a lovely spot for a quick overnight camping trip, a hike or time out on the water, but wouldn't call it a travel destination.
