We took a ride to Arlington, VA to visit the Iwo Jima Memorial. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon with the sun shining and temperatures warming up. It is a very overwhelming experience at the Memorial. Not just it's shear size, but also the meaning that this site holds. There is plenty of parking at the Memorial. Take care as you will encounter tour busses in this area. Bathrooms are available near the site. Enjoy your visit!

A can't miss memorial in Arlington. One of the most iconic visuals of the American military right before your eyes and a great place to reflect and appreciate what our fallen military men and women have sacrificed for this country and its people. There is parking, there are views and there is a beautiful work of art.

Visiting the Memorial is a yearly pilgrimage. Emotional and cathartic. It is a magnificent creation. An embodiment of perseverance for all. Semper Fi!

The U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial is a truly awesome monument to visit in the D.C. area. I have especially fond memories here, being a Marine, as I accepted my warrant and commission here, I have run through the monuments for fun, and I finished the 50th Marine Corps Marathon here. The monument is so inspirational and is a testament to the might of Our Great Nation. It stands as a remembrance for those Marines and Sailors that drove with steadfast perseverance and gave the ultimate sacrifice during World War II for the love and prosperity of The People of Our Great Nation. What’s more is that this memorial stands for all members of the Armed Forces past, present, and future. Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and now Guardians alike, the spirit and countryman-ship of all can be both felt and celebrated here at the Marine Corps War Memorial. I absolutely love visiting D.C., it is truly a treat for me. I do not really care for some of the attitudes of people who reside here, or the crazy people on the roadways, but away from that, D.C. embodies some of the richest and most rewarding aspects of our historical American culture. I highly recommend and encourage all of go can to visit this and all the other memorials, monuments, and historic structures in the National Capitol Region.
