Beautiful park and very relaxing nature walk around lotus ponds with birds singing around you. There are several birds species, turtles, insects etc one can spot. Board walk was excellent experience up to river point. There is plenty of free parking available and park entrance is free. Highly recommended one for quick nature tour.

Beautiful area - and I missed the water lilies blooming! Several "ponds" form a sunken garden where you can walk among them and not only enjoy the lotus and lilies, but learn a great deal about them. The Boardwalk was a wonderful find, with more informational signage. Found it while geocaching, and will be returning in July to see everything in full bloom. Picnic tables to enjoy a meal and gathering, and many chairs available to view the gardens and wildlife. Definitely a place I would recommend.

Get a taste of what the DC area was like before it was DC. A land of marshes, frequent floods, it's amazing that the city exists as it does today, and there's a park like Kenilworth exists to remind us what came before. For being in the DC city limits, you feel like you're a world away here. We saw dozens of turtles and frogs. My Merlin bird app was going crazy identifing numerous species.
There are park rangers present, a junior ranger program, bathrooms, a very small park store. A big draw for NPS passport stamp collectors....this location has over a dozen stamps for nearby DC parks that you can't find at any other location and most be a stop you make.

Overall a relaxing area, but with some noise from the highway. Nice trail, well maintained. Not much to see at this time of year (April) as the lotus is not in season yet. It seems like this marshy area attracts a lot of birds. I saw a number of people with cameras and binoculars so it seems like a great place for birdwatching.

This Aquatic Garden is a wonderful place to visit and a blessed convergence of waterways and bogs for water lilies and water lotus. For me it is like visiting heaven. I truly love visiting not just for the Lotus Festival in July but all year long. Happiness floats!
