Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens is one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited. I guess the perfect time to visit is end of June to beginning of July. The lotus bloom was absolutely breathtaking, with thousands of pink and white flowers stretching across the ponds. The water lilies were just beginning to bloom, so I probably came a week or two early, but I can only imagine how magical this place will look when they’re all open.
Even so, the visit was unforgettable. The ponds were so full of life that you could barely see the water beneath the sea of lotus leaves and lilies. It felt peaceful, vibrant, and unlike anywhere else I’ve been. If you love nature or photography, this is a place you shouldn’t miss.

I love to get a good walk in! Found a neighborhood trail. Ventured for a while and noticed an entrance to a Lotus and Water Lily Pond 😊 It’s a short distance off the Kenilworth Trail. Once you get past the entrance you will find a huge park connected to beautiful ponds, a boardwalk and conservatory area. Great place to unwind and explore most definitely 👍🏼

Beautiful park and very relaxing nature walk around lotus ponds with birds singing around you. There are several birds species, turtles, insects etc one can spot. Board walk was excellent experience up to river point. There is plenty of free parking available and park entrance is free. Highly recommended one for quick nature tour.

Beautiful area - and I missed the water lilies blooming! Several "ponds" form a sunken garden where you can walk among them and not only enjoy the lotus and lilies, but learn a great deal about them. The Boardwalk was a wonderful find, with more informational signage. Found it while geocaching, and will be returning in July to see everything in full bloom. Picnic tables to enjoy a meal and gathering, and many chairs available to view the gardens and wildlife. Definitely a place I would recommend.

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is a hidden gem in Washington, DC. During the early summer, the ponds are filled with some of the most amazing lotus and waterlillies. The boardwalks take you out into the Anacostia River where it is common to see waterfowl, eagles, kingfishers, and even muskrats.
The annual festival in early July is a must see.
