We learned a lot about George Mason during our visit. The museum is not too big and well put together. It provides a good view on the life and accomplishments of George Mason and even has a few stations set up with activities that inspire reflections on what a bill of rights means to us. The house tour was the highlight, very well preserved and restored rooms provide an idea of what life in 18th century was like. Our guide Erin did an amazing job showing the house and explaining all the details.

We recently brought a group of senior residents to Gunston Hall, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We purchased our tickets online in advance for the 1:00 PM house tour, which made the check-in process smooth and easy.

The grounds are beautiful, well-maintained, and rich with history. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the house tour. Our tour guide was phenomenal, knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about sharing the history of George Mason and his home. They did an excellent job making the experience both educational and enjoyable for our group.

The house itself is fascinating and offers a unique glimpse into colonial American life. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed learning about the home’s history, architecture, and original features. It was clear that a great deal of care has gone into preserving this important historic site.

One thing future visitors should be aware of is accessibility. While Gunston Hall does offer handicap parking, the George Mason house itself is not fully wheelchair accessible due to the historic nature of the property and the presence of stairs. This did not impact our group, as everyone who wished to tour the home was able to do so. However, visitors who use wheelchairs or have significant mobility limitations may find it difficult to access all areas of the house and should plan accordingly.

Overall, we had a fantastic visit and would absolutely recommend Gunston Hall to anyone interested in American history. Between the beautiful grounds, informative exhibits, and exceptional tour guide, it was a memorable outing for our residents.

The home is beautiful with amazing wood work. Everyone was scary nice that worked there even though we showed up towards the end of the day.

Gunston Hall is perhaps one of the most wonderfully preserved homes of the Founding Fathers. It is easily on par with Mount Vernon and Monticello, and you walk much of the remaining 550 acres of George Mason’s Gunston Hall. Mason designed the house himself and his personal touches are everywhere in the house. Each room is lovingly preserved and open to visitors. This is an ideal location for a family outing or a day date. If you like learning about the Founding Fathers and Mothers of the United States, this is one house you should not miss.

What a delight! Today our kindergarten class attended a private tour at George Mason Gunston Hall. We were greeted by a charming woman who let us through the beautiful ground and home of Mason. Mrs. Carney kept our class interested and kept the tour exciting for the little ones. What a lovely day! Definitely will be going back again. Ample parking. Gift shop. Clean restrooms inside!
