Just an excellent get-a-way in the DC area. Well managed sanctuarie.
Lots of wildlife, birds, crazy happy water dwellers
Trails with diverse ( the normal kind) views
Staff is around, but mostly invisible which is good as the nature is front and center the star.
Take a sweetheart or family.

First time here this last weekend and I absolutely loved it. Beautiful place to hike.

I love this place! It’s one of my favorite state parks, not just in Virginia, but out of anywhere I’ve been. The rangers are very friendly and just great. The scenery is gorgeous, the park is packed with wildlife, there’s plenty of trails, and it’s so pretty here. I loved the boardwalk over the wetlands. Another great thing is the ten dollar fee, no seriously. It prevents overcrowding and this is the cleanest park I saw in Virginia. Every other place I went hiking had trash everywhere, this place did not!

Amazing park! The ranger who led the history hike, Patrick I think his name was, was really great despite it just being me on the hike!! He was super informative and engaging and honestly just fun to hike with. 10/10 would go on another Patrick led hike! Also the park is gorgeous like seriously such a beautiful park and they're doing such good work there!!!

Beautiful park reserve on the Potomac to see lots of wildlife and enjoy the amazing scenery. Although it's not far from the city you couldn't tell from the serene forest and water around you. Unbelievable to see bald eagles roaming around, as well. Well worth the drive and the minor $10 parking fee. Will definitely come back for another visit
