We visited on October 2025 and hike the trail between the two park sections. Trail is well marked and maintained . The visitors center had displays and information on Palmer Hayden. Restrooms are available In each park section. Plenty of parking,

Really stunning place. We went in February when there was still snow on the ground. With two toddlers, a baby and a dog. My friend is a power house. The boys did great on the trail. Can't wait to go back once every thing is melted.

Wonderful place for families and friends. Has a good fall vibe and nice trails. Entry fee was 10$ per vehicle. Rangers are friendly..

Surprising one of my favorite VA state parks (we've visited 22 so far). The visitor's center was amazing with a great kids section and very cool info for adults. The staff was friendly and helpful. We love that they have animal friends at most of the visitor's centers and they have an albino turtle there, who is so cute. The hiking by the water was beautiful. We did both the trails there as they are fairly short. $10 fee to park/enter the park.

This park is not big in size but well maintained and good for kayak enthusiasts. There are few trails but short hikes.
The 10$ weekend parking fee seemed exorbitant given the lack of enough to do and no paved walkway to take kids on strollers.
