We ate here after a long walk on the Great Falls trail. There is an entrance to the trail (with parking) near the restaurant but we parked on the restaurant parking lot. The garden area was gorgeous. It offers cool fresh breeze on a sunny afternoon. The mushroom tart salad was phenomenal. It was so good we scraped the plate clean! The gyro meat was a bit dry to our liking. The burger was okay. I have to agree with other reviews that the meal prices are a tad overpriced. But we will go back for that mushroom salad! So good!

What a cozy beautiful place! Went there on a Saturday night and it was as vibrant as a restaurant in DC still secluded from the city. The food was absolutely amazing! The mushroom tart and filet mignon were the must try ones imo. Loved the vibe!

On the map, it seems so very far away. But it really is an easy trek up MacArthur Blvd, almost gives a feeling you're heading out to the country. Very rustic atmosphere, which is a big attraction. Great food, fun outdoor seating.

Locals remember the Old Angler's Inn as a posh French country restaurant but today it has both fine dining inside as well as outside on the front patio near the lovely water fountain. In the back of this charming establishment off the canal along the Potomac river on MacArthur Boulevard a few miles from Potomac Village it has casual dining, live music and a very relaxed vibe. The service in both areas is fantastic. While the front retains the fine dining experience which OAI has always been known for the back patio has relaxed options like pizzas.
I was so pleased to see at night we were able to park on the canal side parking area and there was security. This area is very uneven and has pot holes. Perhaps bring a flashlight or drop people first then park. During the day this public lot is used by hikers, campers, bikers and kayakers. The restaurant lot is large but does fill up on a busy night.
I have many fond memories of Highschool dates and family dinners here over the years. Now my friends are playing in the band while their children and grandchildren watch. The service in both areas is wonderful. The OAI merchandise is so adorable I am thinking Christmas gifts. The current owner loves live music which is in the back patio but he also has a fun Spotify channel of music. Check out OAI on Spotify.

A Hidden Gem with Incredible Food and Atmosphere!
Old Anglers Inn is an absolute treasure! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the charming and outdoorsy ambiance—beautiful landscaping, colorful flowers everywhere, and even peaceful waterfalls that make the whole experience feel like a retreat. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and even spaces available to rent for special events.
The food? Simply amazing. I had the Reuben sandwich, and I can honestly say it was the best I’ve ever had—perfectly toasted, flavorful, and unforgettable. For dessert, don’t skip the tiramisu—it’s heavenly!
What made the visit even more memorable was the staff. Everyone was genuinely friendly, warm, and welcoming. I even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was just as kind and hospitable as the rest of the team.
Whether you're stopping by for a casual lunch or planning a private event, Old Anglers Inn is a must-visit. I can’t wait to go back!
