A great place to fish, hike, or bike on the C&O towpath. You can drive right to the ferry landing, by the old lockeeper's house. There's also a bathroom at the landing. Just be forewarned that the landing will often flood after a heavy rain, which may limit or prevent parking.

This is a really good place for paddle boarding & kayaking. The river is wide with a mild current. During normal water level you can almost walk across the river. There are restroom facilities on site. The boat makes it easy to unload and load your water crafts. The only reason I gave a 4 star is because the shore has a lot of mud requiring cleanup at home but it is well worth it. We went with 3 paddle boards & 2 kayaks. My 6 YO & 2 YO grandsons had a ball.

Nice place to launch your boat/kayak, or start a bicycle ride along the canal. You have to cross a very narrow wood bridge to get to the parking lot.

We went during Heritage Montgomery Days. They open up the lockhouse and you can see how the lockmaster and his family lived.
